Fashion Design

Design, prestige, beauty are without a doubt the first words that come to mind when we think of fashion. Beyond seeing their clothing modeled on stage, the fashion designer is a person in the limelight that we recognize and identify with a brand

Fashion designers always have to be on the lookout for
inspiration wherever a "hot" new idea or trend emerges
and becomes the basis for a new collection.

What do designers do all day? They research ideas,
trends, styles and materials everywhere, selecting
fabrics, textures and colours that will inspire them.
They create new clothing designs for different target
markets and clienteles. They create illustrations,
sketches, samples and prototypes. They refine
their patterns, to be sure to produce a perfect fit.

Career Prospects

Fashion designers can become entrepreneurs and have their own boutiques or collections or work for manufacturers, importers or exporters. An ever-increasing number of retailers employ designers to create in-house branded lines. Someone who has studied fashion design can also have a very satisfying career as a stylist, pattern designer or patternmaker, costume designer or fashion coordinator for movies, television, theatres, shows, advertising and, more recently, for film clips used to promote pop music. There are also career opportunities as illustrators or fashion reporters for magazines, newspapers and television.
