Continuing Technical Education (CTE)

LaSalle College International Manila offers a great variety of technical courses for people who have the passion but lack the time to acquire the necessary skills, and for those who wish to develop new competencies. No matter which subject you choose, these courses will provide you with the knowledge that you've been seeking.

Each course of the Continuing Technical Education Program consists of 42 hours of unique hands-on training, provided by talented, skilled, well-known and award-winning designers and entrepreneurs. The course can be divided into a 7-Saturday or customized schedule (contact us for details). Night classes are also available (see below).

Course List

Ladies' Patternmaking
This course covers the basic technical aspects of developing precise professional patterns for garments, and provides a solid foundation of the tools, concepts and methods necessary for success in this highly competitive industry.

Men's Patternmaking
This course is tailored to meet the needs of those interested in learning and practicing the art of men’s patternmaking. Tutor-led hands-on demonstrations serve as the starting point for practicing and developing skills and aesthetic values. Course content will cover the basic rules and components of cutting men’s garments.

Children's Patternmaking
The focus of this course is on patternmaking techniques for children's clothing. Students will learn the basics and develop original designs based on professional standards. They will produce test patterns in muslin for fit and proportion.

Draping
This course introduces students to basic draping techniques and industry procedures for patternmaking. Students will acquire draping skills and produce a basic pattern and a sample garment.

Sewing
This course introduces students to sewing techniques. They will produce a sewing notebook and a complete garment. Operation of the power sewing machine is also covered.

Fashion Jewellery and Accessories
This course is designed to explore the world of fashion accessories from raw materials to the finished project, including cultural issues and fashion trends. It is a hands-on course giving students the skills and technical ability required to design jewellery and fashion accessories.

PAD System
This course is designed to provide students with an automatic update from the pattern development phase to the cloned production pieces using the PAD System's patternmaking process, an application of CAD/CAM in the fashion industry.

Fashion Photography
This course aims to introduce students to photographic practices and techniques. Its primary objective is to provide them with hands-on technical experience in fashion, while familiarizing them with the critical and theoretical debates surrounding photography in general.

Fashion Styling
Becoming an image consultant, personal shopper or fashion stylist
is a dream for many. The personal stylist career is gaining momentum worldwide. This course provides demonstrations and insightful information on the theory of personal fashion styling techniques for men and women.

Basic Fashion Illustration
This studio course is a beginner fashion sketching class in which students learn the proportions and techniques for sketching a figure that is nine heads tall. They learn to render - using coloured pencils, markers, and pens - and perfect fashion figure poses and garment illustration. 

Interior Design
Interior design deals with the style, arrangement and decoration of surfaces within a space (usually domestic), including the furniture, colour scheme, soft furnishings, window treatments, accents and accessories. The goal of interior design is to provide a certain "feeling" or mood for a room. In this short course, students will learn to decorate and beautify the interior of their homes or retail establishments.

Artistic Makeup
In this course, students will learn the unique and fascinating aspects of facial makeup from concept development to actual application. It will explore the influences of fashion designers, trends and the entertainment industry as they relate to product innovation and commercialization.
