FASHION BUYER


This program is geared towards those wishing to enter or retrain for a career in the fashion industry, especially in marketing or buying. The program is also appropriate for people who are already working in fashion, but are either seeking a promotion or would like to become buyers in the industry.

The purpose of the program is to provide students with knowledge and information required to execute the tasks, activities and responsibilities of buyers in the fashion industry. The program prepares the students to present collections, follow-up orders and deliveries, make purchasing advice, and seek new suppliers. It also prepares them to participate in industry shows and fairs that take place during market weeks throughout the year. In some instances, graduates may be called upon to provide design input.

Furthermore, this program help students manage the daily stress involved in attaining precise objectives and satisfying demanding clients.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Particularly if they are going to become buyers, graduates may be called upon to carry out merchandise-assortment planning for retailers, wholesalers or manufacturers.
They may also be called upon to work for retailers, wholesalers or manufacturers, in buying or merchandising at the management level in the fashion industry.
